Tazkir — your Quran memorisation coach

Who we are: Tazkir (“we”, “us”), operated by Tazkir, England and Wales, United Kingdom.

Tazkir is a Quran-memorisation coach. You recite; the app listens through your device’s microphone and gives feedback comparing what it hears to the Quran. This policy explains, in plain terms, what we collect, what we do with it, and — importantly — what we don’t do.

The short version

Your voice recordings are never stored. Each recitation is analysed and then discarded immediately. We keep only the results (which words matched), not the audio.
You need an account — an email address and a password — so your progress follows you across devices. Your password is stored only as a salted hash; we never see it.
No ads. No tracking. We never sell or share your data.
You can delete everything, any time, from within the app.

What we collect

We do not collect: your phone number, contacts, location, photos, or any device identifiers for advertising. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs.

The microphone

The app uses the microphone only while you are actively recording a recitation, and only after you grant permission. The captured audio is sent over an encrypted connection to our servers, analysed, and discarded — it is not stored, not played back to anyone else, and not used for any purpose other than giving you feedback in that moment.

How we use your data

To give you feedback on your recitation and to track your progress and revision schedule.
To operate your account (sign-in, and keeping your progress attached to you).
To improve Tazkir’s accuracy in aggregate (e.g. which kinds of flags users overrule) — using the results and feedback above, never your stored audio (there is none).

We do not sell your data, share it with third parties for their own purposes, use it for advertising, or build advertising profiles.

Children’s privacy

Many people memorising the Quran are children, and Tazkir is designed with that in mind: no ads, no tracking, no profiling, no location, and only the data needed to run the service.

You must be 13 or over to create an account. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up, and accounts for anyone under 13 are refused.
Tazkir is currently offered in the United Kingdom only, where 13 is the age at which a child can consent to an online service under UK GDPR Art. 8. If we offer Tazkir in other countries we will raise the minimum age or add verifiable parental consent, as each country’s law requires, before doing so.
If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian to create the account and practise together with you.
A parent or guardian can delete a child’s account and all associated data at any time from within the app (see “Your choices”).

Data retention and security

Recordings: not retained — discarded right after analysis.
Account, results, feedback: retained while your account exists; deleted when you delete your account.
Passwords are stored only as salted hashes (scrypt). Data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections and stored on access-controlled servers located in [REGION/JURISDICTION].

Your choices and rights

Delete everything: Settings → Privacy → “Delete my data” removes your account and all your recitation history. This cannot be undone.
Sign out: Settings → Account → “Sign out” ends the session on that device.
See what’s kept: your progress and history are visible in the app (Progress, History).
Your legal rights: you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis. We normally respond within one month, although this may be extended where permitted by law. To exercise any of these, use the in-app delete or contact us at privacy@tazkir.co.uk.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or how we use it — for example, if we add an optional, opt-in way to share recordings to help improve the app — we will update this policy and, where the change is material, ask for your consent before it applies to you.
